Welcome to Self Help News

I have just set up this blog,  I have a very strong interest in the self help field, I guess because I have had to do a lot of it.  Back in 1987 I was going to farrier school in Corvallis Oregon at the OSU horse facility and I would prowl the used bookstores for whatever struck my fancy and I go hooked on self help books, I remember one in particular was titled “Act As If” and that book has probably done more that any other book to assist me in my life.  Quite simple really, want to be a horseshoer, act as if you are one, want to be brave act as if you really are brave.  Works most of the time,  just check with reality once in a while for your personal safety and sanity.

Now with the web, even more self help information is available, and I have accumulated a lot of private label rights to self help topics so I decided to share most of it for free, I am gright arrowiving away a nice 50 page report “How to take control” if you want to sign up for my newsletter, it is right over there.

Conflict Resolution Advice

By admin · Comments (0)
Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Those times always come when we
find ourselves in a conflict with
a friend, a family member or a
coworker. People disagree with
one another.  That is one of the
cold hard facts of life, and
learning how to resolve a conflict
can make life easier at work and
at home.

You May Find More conflict resolution information here.

Here are six tips to help to
resolve conflicts as quickly and
painlessly as possible:

1. Hold your temper. Be slow to
become angry. Count to 10 to 100 if
necessary or walk away and give
yourself time to control your
anger before you make a hasty
reply. Anger is an unproductive
emotion that will only prolong
the conflict.

2. Avoid pointing out mistakes the
other person made directly. No one
likes to be criticized. Rather
choose your words carefully and
point out errors the other person
has made indirectly. Samuel Butler
said it best.   A person convinced
against his will is of the same
opinion still.

3. Look for common ground.
Compromise is an art form. There
is usually a way that everybody
can come together on at least one
point in a conflict and resolution
of the conflict can be built on
compromise.

4. Admit you mistakes. If you
determine that you were wrong in a
dispute, admit it. Eating crow is
never very tasty but its not as
hard to swallow when it is fresh.

5. Lead by example. Admit your own
mistakes before pointing out a
similar mistake made by another
person. We always learn more from
our mistakes than from  anything we
accidentally do right.

6. Mend your fences and do it as
quickly as possible. Say you are
sorry whether you are, at the
moment, or not. Sometimes just a
little time will resolve a
conflict. This is a quote from
the smartest woman I ever knew, my
grandmother.  Don’t let the sun set
on a hard heart good advice.

Changing Your Attitude

By admin · Comments (0)

Attitude is probably the single
most important ingredient in both
success and failure. Attitude
causes a person to act or react to
every situation in one way or
another. A long ago poet wrote,
Two men looked out from prison
bars one saw mud, the other saw
stars."

You May Find More Information on Changing Your Attitude

Pessimism and optimism are the two
poles of our attitudes. Pessimists
always see the glass as half
empty while optimists see the same
glass as half full. Its the same
glass and has the same amount in
it, the only difference is how you
look at it.

Pessimists see a problem as a
stumbling block and begin wringing
their hands and pacing the floor
waiting for the sky to fall.

Optimists see a problem as an
opportunity to find a solution
that will advance their careers
and they roll up their sleeves and
get to work.

Pessimists lose optimists win
which are you? Optimism doesn't
guarantee success but pessimism
does guarantee failure. Often
pessimism is caused by
unrealistic expectations
expecting great things to happen
to you with no effort on your part.

Having high expectations for
yourself is an important part of
success, but you must also develop
a solid goals program to make
those expectations a reality.

People too often view the world
through rose-colored glasses, and
when their unrealistic
expectations fall short, they
become pessimistic and put on
woes-colored glasses.

You can change your attitude from
pessimistic to optimistic if you
are willing to work at it. There
are Hypnosis sessions that can
help you change your attitudes and
give yourself a better chance to
succeed.

There are audio and video courses
at the March to Motivation web
site that can help, as well, and
The Motivated mind can do a lot
for you. Work hard at becoming an
optimist. You will have a greater
chance at success and you will be
a lot happier in the other areas
of your life.

Are you suffering from Burnout
on the job? You could be and not
even be aware that you have
the problem. Ask yourself these
questions:

Are you more cynical, critical
and sarcastic at work?

Have you lost your ability to
experience joy?

Do you have to drag yourself to
work and have trouble getting
started once you arrive.

Have you become more irritable
and less patient with co-workers,
customers or clients?

If you answered yes to these
questions, you are probably
suffering from burnout. So what
can you do about it?

You May Find More Information (here)

Here are a few suggestions:

1. Start your day with some high
energy music. That might not sound
like it will help, but it does.
Research has shown that people who
use high energy music to start
their day and before they face
challenging situations have
increased productivity by as much
as 200%!

2. The past is over, drop it. If
you cant get over something that
went wrong in your life,
remember this quote, Do not
blame yourself for past errors.
You are no longer the same person
who made them and you cannot blame
a person who does not exist.

3. Put a humor board in your
office. Laughter helps ease stress
and bring mountains back down to
mole hills where they belong.
Learn to see humor in difficult
situations. A good, hearty laugh
is the best stress releaser of all.

4. Take a break of just slow down:
Take inventory of your business,
personal life, accomplishments and
goals. Take the time to reflect and
think. This revitalizes the mind
and refreshes the spirit.

Start with Small Steps Everyday

By admin · Comments (0)
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
We all take baby steps everyday
going somewhere. The problem seems
to be where we are going.
Most of the time a day goes by
and we have taken a baby step
in one direction?then the next
day, we take a baby step in
another direction.

That's going nowhere fast. That's
exactly how you got where you are
today?one baby step at a time.
There's an old saying; Those who
fail to plan, plan to fail and it
is true. You certainly need to
know where you want to go before
you can get there.

The only place you will arrive is
nowhere-city without a plan, a
well thought out,
written down in black
and white plan?.a road map to
success.

You May Find More Information Here

The first step is to decide
exactly what your long term goal
is, no maybes, ifs, or, ands. Write
it down in one short sentence. I
want a successful online business,
I want to be able to retire
comfortably when I am sixty,
I want to be able to send my
kids to college? are some
examples.

The next step is to map out the
way that you can achieve that long
term goal?the baby steps it will
take to get there?what you can do
each day to just make it all
happen.

Your list might start with, ?Make
an appointment with a financial
planner? or ?Get information about
starting an online business?. This
list should start with where you
are now and take you through to
reaching your goal. You will need
a lot of motivation to make a plan
and stick to it for the long haul.

Now that you have your plan in
your hands, start putting it into
action?a plan without the action to
back it up is just a useless
piece of paper. Take that first
step the baby step to the next
thing on your list.
